African American Student Services Department
2014- 15 School year
On behalf of the African American Students Services Department, we welcome you to another school year filled with excitement and opportunities for our children to succeed academically and socially. The purpose of this letter is two-fold: 1) Introduce myself to you and my role as the Student Success Specialist working at your child’s school, and 2) To invite you to the first of several parent events our department will host this school year. My name is Miles Warrior, and I would like to welcome you and your family to Blenman’s 2014-2015 school year. As your Student Success Specialist, my role is to work with the Blenman team to help your child reach his/her academic goals. Below are a few of my on-site duties:• Provide direct educational support for African-American students• Support and collaborate with teachers in the classroom• Provide information and community resources regarding educational, recreational, and cultural programs within the community and TUSD• Work with students and families regarding attendance, behavior, completing classes and grades• Participate in school conference concerning your child• Serve as a representative for African American students during disciplinary issues (if requested) As a department we will focus on what we call the A, B,C’s of what we do (Attendance, Behavior /Discipline, Credits/Class Completion and Grades. The A,B,C’s will help us enhance our support so that your child continues to be academically successful throughout the school year.Sincerely,Miles D. Warrior
